In the Old West era, Union Pacific train engineers and railroad workers wore distinctive overalls, caps and work jackets made from hickory stripe before boiler suits were invented in the early 20th century. In modern times, the striped engineer cap remains part of the uniform of American train drivers.
The Hickory Stripe we use has to be an America Classic. To us that means it is an America staple from the start and ages gracefully. This 10oz made by USAMount Vernon Mills, has a plain weave and is a very solid fabric. This fabric is the starting point for all American workwear. It is Sanforized, and there will be some stretch and shrinkage, but not as much as a denim weave. It’s truly an America Classic.
